Series Resources
sermon-based study guide
This guide is designed to guide a group discussion around the weekend sermon. You can also use this as an individual, but we highly recommend finding a friend and inviting them to discuss with you. Menlo Church has Life Groups meeting in-person and online using these guides. We’d love to help you find a group.
What you will find in this guide: A discussion guide for groups and individuals. If you are using this as an individual be sure to engage with each question in a journal or simply in your mind as you prayerfully consider what you heard in the sermon and seek to discover what God is inviting you to know and do.

CONNECT
Think about a time when you felt compelled to share a personal story with others. What was it that made you want to share that specific story? How did others respond, and how did it feel to open up? Share about the impact of sharing that story on your relationship with others and your faith.
ENGAGE
Read Acts 2:42-47 as a group and discuss:
- How does the example of the early church in Acts challenge your view of community and sharing with others?
- What is one practical step you can take to invest in deeper community with others, as described in the early church?
- How does vulnerability and openness in sharing your story help build a deeper community, like the early church?
- What are some areas in your life where you might be holding back from sharing boldly about your faith? What steps can you take to be more open?
- What story do you hope others will tell about you, and how can you start living in a way that reflects that today?
APPLY
- What would it look like for you to invest more deeply in your church community? How can you take one step toward greater involvement in your life group or Menlo as your church?
- What legacy do you want to leave behind for your family and friends? What intentional steps can you take today to live out that legacy?
PRAYER
Pray together as a group asking God to give us the boldness to share our stories of faith, just like the early church did. Help us to trust God as the author of our lives, knowing that God is at work in every moment, even in the challenges. May we live with open hearts, sharing generously and reflecting God's love to those around us.
