Week 2

Diversity Develops

esus didn’t just talk about this; He modeled it from the very beginning of His ministry. Jesus would regularly engage with people who were nothing like Him but still seemed to like Him as He loved them. Jesus was so passionate about this approach that religious leaders challenged Him, and He clarified that the people they wanted Him to stay away from were the very people that He came to love. We are in a time of deep polarization, and we have been watching extremism grow as the diversity in voices around us shrinks. We were made to have thoughtful and kind discourse, but if we eliminate everyone from our lives with whom we disagree, then we are far more likely to create caricatures than to see people.
